Acque Sconosciute

Film Screening

2025, September, Venice, Italy The film 'Ardeidae', co-directed by C. Faggionato, C. Chiatti and D. Tucci, is one of the video artworks presented as part of Cinema Galleggiante ~ Acque Sconosciute.

From August 22nd to September 7th 2025, Cinema Galleggiante ~ Acque Sconosciute returns to the Venetian lagoon, transforming its water into a stage for a rich program of screenings and performances by international and local artists. A floating structure, viewable from one’s own boat or from a dedicated floating platform, hosts the event for the sixth time. This year, the stage drops anchor in a new location, mooring in front of the island of Sacca Fisola, where the audience is invited to venture into the lagoon’s waters and take part in the creation of a temporary amphibious settlement. Since its very first editions, the program has explored experimental forms at the intersection of sound and the moving image, spanning cinema and the visual arts. Its offerings range from pre-cinematic techniques such as shadow theatre and the magic lantern, to silent films with live soundtracks, film projections and cutting-edge digital technologies.

As every year, Cinema Galleggiante ~ Acque Sconosciute is a collective initiative made possible through the collaboration of various institutions that support its realisation. The sixth edition of Cinema Galleggiante ~ Acque Sconosciute is made possible thanks to the support of the following partners: TBA21–Academy's Ocean Space (2020-2025), Pentagram Stiftung (2020-2025), Palazzo Grassi – Punta della Dogana – Pinault Collection (2020-2025), Fondazione In Between Art Film (2021-2025), Peggy Guggenheim Collection (2022-2025), Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève (2025) and Espace Louis Vuitton Venezia (2025). Curated by Edoardo Aruta, Alessandra Messali and Paolo Rosso, the project is presented
