RECLAIMING THE AMAZONS

Art Program

The art program 'Reclaiming the Amazons' invites participants to critically engage with different artworks depicting Amazon warrior women and explore the intersection of gender, ecology, and colonial history in relation to the Amazons and the Amazon region. The program consists of four workshops across Berlin and a closing event at the Altes Museum Berlin, and is organized by Amazonen in Berlin (Chiara Faggionato and Lina Mazenett).

'Ardeidae', co-directed by C. Faggionato, C. Chiatti and D. Tucci, is one of the video artworks presented as part of Cinema Galleggiante ~ Acque Sconosciute. From August 22nd to September 7th 2025, Cinema Galleggiante returns to the Venetian lagoon, transforming its water into a stage for a rich program of screenings and performances by international and local artists. The program explores experimental forms at the intersection of sound and the moving image, spanning cinema and the visual arts.

The statues of the ancient warrior women 'Amazonen' in Berlin Mitte invite participants on a journey to reflect on the appropriation of women's bodies and the land from an ecofeminist and decolonial perspective. Art Education Program

'Rebel Statues' is a new art education program for FLINTA* youth in Berlin, organised by Amazonen in Berlin and led by artists Chiara Faggionato and Lina Mazenett. Through a series of workshops, participants explore statues in public space and the gender stereotypes they embody. Working with clay, they create alternative rebellious figures for the city. The project concludes with a final exhibition at Projektraum Galerie M presenting the works.
